Pastor William Summers and The Door Duncanville are excited to begin a new study called “The History of the Bible”—a journey through the Word of God that helps believers understand not just what the Bible says, but how it came to be and why it matters for every Christian today.

The Bible is not just one book, but a library of 66 books written over many centuries by more than forty different authors from various cultures and backgrounds. These writings were composed over approximately 1,500 years, inspired by God’s Spirit, and eventually collected and recognized as the sacred Scriptures we know today.

 

The Bible is divided into the Old Testament and the New Testament, with the Old Testament laying the foundation of God’s promise of a Savior long before His arrival, and the New Testament revealing the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of that promise.

Understanding the history of the Bible deepens our appreciation for God’s Word, strengthens our faith in His promises, and equips us to follow Christ more faithfully in our everyday lives. This study will show that the Bible is not just ancient words on a page—but the living, breathing message of God’s love for us through Jesus Christ.
